DAY ONE

Sant’Angelo

Start your day in the charming village of Sant’Angelo on the south side of the island. The village is pedestrian only so you’ll get to enjoy the full effect of its narrow streets and delightful alleys.

This adds to the authentic feel of the entire area. Sant’Angelo is situated on a promontory which creates some of the most amazing views on the whole island.

Sant' Angelo, Ischia

Our family was captivated by the beauty of the area which includes whitewashed buildings and plenty of sea. Take your time walking the streets and enjoying the Mediterranean vibe of the village. This was our favorite part of Ischia.

From the mainland the view down the causeway is spectacular. There is a beach on the coast of the causeway which is among several beaches in the area.

Maronti Beach

After enjoying the village of Sant’ Angelo, why not take a boat ride from the main part of the village over to Maronti Beach?

The boat ride was one of our favorite parts of our visit to this area. It gives you a unique perspective on a very scenic area.

Of the beaches near Sant’ Angelo, Maronti Beach is the best. It’s a great place for families because it’s one of the longest beaches on the island and has great changing facilities. Also, even though it is very popular among tourists, it maintains a peaceful vibe, perfect for families.

The length of the beach also ensures that there is plenty of space even when it does get crowded.

Aragonese Castle

Perhaps the most famous landmark in Ischia is next. It’s easy to access from Maronti Beach by bus or car. This castle originally built in 474 BC is a magnificent example of medieval architecture and a wonderful way to experience the history of Ischia.

Ischia Porto

This bustling port town is one of the main areas tourists come to shop. There is a variety of local vendors to choose from. It’s an excellent place to find souvenirs and local goods.

There is a seafront promenade that is a nice place for a walk to enjoy the scenery or to just sit and relax. If you’re looking for something to eat there are several restaurants to choose from.

This is also a great place for a boat tour.

DAY TWO

Forio

Situated on the far west side of Ischia, Forio is a great place to visit to get a feel for Ischia. It’s a charming town that’s full of history and culture. Make your way to its historic center with its narrow streets and colorful buildings.

There are several historic churches that you’ll want to check out while touring the town including the Santa Maria del Soccorso (the white church), and the church of San Vito Forio among others, some of which were built in the 14th century.
