WHAT TO PACK FOR ISCHIA
LUGGAGE
Full Sized Luggage
Start your vacation to Ischia on the right foot by choosing the perfect luggage for your family. Optimal luggage has ample space, aligns with airline regulations, and provides versatility. Fortunately, this luggage checks all of the boxes and then some.Â
Carry On Luggage
We like to go carry-on only when we travel as it allows us to grab some of the best flight deals. It’s also much easier to get around with lighter bags. When looking for the perfect luggage we love something durable, easy to maneuver, and with ample space and compartments.
This is the carry-on luggage that will work well in that regard.
A carry-on bag that is also a backpack provides versatility for families especially when you have younger children and keeping your hands free is of great benefit. Our family used this carry-on backpack on our two-week trip to Europe which included Ischia and it was awesome!
Personal Item/Backpack
Along with a good carry-on, having a personal item makes the strategy work as well. A useful backpack will be versatile enough to use to pack clothing and other essentials and also can be used when you’re out and about touring Ischia. This is the backpack that you’re looking for.

Flip flops/water shoes
All of the beaches on Ischia aren’t smooth sand, some consist of pebbles or some mixture of the two. Having some protection for your feet is ideal. This is also a good idea if you plan on visiting any of the thermal spas on the island.
These are a great option for women and some for men.
There are some great beach shoes for boys and girls.

For men, these are comfortable and smart.

One of the best ways to keep cool and keep the sun off of you is to wear a hat. Of course, there are plenty of options to choose from, but this one is perfect for those sunny Ischia days. For men, something similar is equally good.

SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL OPTIONS
Reusable shopping bags for local markets
One of the best ways to travel on a budget and sustainably is to purchase food for meals at local markets. We love to take advantage of the full kitchens at our accommodations.
We typically book through home-sharing companies like VRBO and Airbnb for this benefit. A small bag that folds down fits in your luggage easily and is handy when carrying your food purchases from the market back to your apartment.
Eco-friendly sunscreen
Sunscreen is a must on a beach vacation. This sunscreen does the job and is also eco-friendly so it’s great to use for your family.
Water bottles
Instead of repeatedly purchasing plastic bottles, why not use this refillable spill-proof bottle? It’s insulated so it’s guaranteed to keep your water cold throughout the day. Our family took this bottle across Europe for two weeks and loved it. Plus it has a built-in straw!
TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
Passports
One of the first things you should do when planning your trip to Ischia is to verify that you have updated passports for everyone in your family.
For United States citizens, your passport not only has to be current but it’s recommended that you have up to six months eligibility past your planned departure date.
For more information regarding visitors’ requirements check Italy’s official website here.
TECHNOLOGY
Plug adapters
Making sure that your devices work once you reach Ischia should be a top priority given their daily usage. Outlets in Italy may vary compared to what you’re used to at home.
This means that you’ll need an adapter that will allow you to use your device with the outlets in Italy. This is the one that we used for our trip to Italy and it was excellent.
Also, keep in mind that there is a difference between an adapter and a converter. Check that your device is compatible with the European standard voltage of 220V.
