BEST AREAS TO STAY IN THE ALGARVE

When choosing where to stay in the Algarve, consider family-friendly areas like Lagos, Albufeira, and Vilamoura, which offer a mix of stunning beaches, cultural attractions, and kid-friendly activities.

Lagos is where we stayed and is ideal for families seeking history and a beautiful coastline, while Albufeira has lively beach resorts and entertainment for all ages.

For a more upscale vibe, Vilamoura offers luxury accommodations and marina views. No matter where you stay you’ll have easy access to outdoor adventures, local dining, and family-oriented attractions, ensuring a wonderful Algarve getaway.

HOW TO GET AROUND THE ALGARVE

Public transportation in the Algarve is available but somewhat limited, so renting a car is the best way to explore the region’s towns and villages.

Many of the most scenic and remote spots can only be reached by car, and having your own vehicle gives you the flexibility and convenience to explore at your own pace.

Renting a car from Faro Airport is easy—just bring your driver’s license and passport. We did this and appreciated the freedom to go wherever we wanted, whenever we wanted.

Be sure to book your car in advance during peak seasons and familiarize yourself with the toll roads in the area to ensure a smooth trip.
