Why You Should Visit Paris In June

Paris, the City of Lights, is a charming destination that captivates visitors all year round. It’s one of the most popular destinations every year. If you’re considering a trip to this iconic city, let us tell you why you should visit Paris in June.

WHY VISIT PARIS IN JUNE

While there is almost no bad time to visit Paris, June is the perfect combination of lower costs, fewer crowds, and great weather. Families that plan to visit Paris especially benefit from visiting in June. Their children are out of school, but you can still enjoy some of the benefits of visiting in summer while avoiding a lot of the negatives.

THE COSTS HAVEN’T REACHED THEIR PEAK

Summer is a very popular time of year for families looking to take a vacation. It works well because children are out of school and the weather is great. Since this is such a popular time for travel, flights, and accommodations have increased demand.

With that increased demand comes increased prices. Experienced travelers look for shoulder season, or a time close to peak season that is not quite as in demand. That can be a bit difficult with Paris because it’s always in high demand.

For family travel to Paris, the month of June is a great example of shoulder season. July and August are the peak summer season, but it also brings about the increased costs that come along with it.

In June, the demand is a bit lower and the prices follow, making June a nice alternative for a family looking to travel in the summer but do so at a more reasonable cost.

Booking in June is good, but it also helps to start planning and booking early. This can be done as far as 8 to 10 months in advance to get exactly what you’re looking for. This is one of the tips that we used to help us get amazing deals on our flights.

If you’re looking to book a vacation rental, we find that starting early provides the best selection as well as the best prices.

THE CROWDS AREN’T OVERBEARING

With such high demand for travel in the summer season in one of the most in-demand travel locations in the world, it naturally follows that summer brings big crowds to Paris.

Famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, and the Louvre can draw huge crowds and long lines.

When our family visited Paris in June we found the crowds much more manageable than we anticipated even for the most popular spots. The lines weren’t super long for the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre, or the Palace of Versailles.

Elsewhere throughout the city we never felt overcrowded or felt that the crowds dampened our experience.

This is especially important for families with young children as their tolerance for waiting in lines can be quite short. Purchasing tickets ahead of time also helped with standing in lines.

Some locations will even give you the option to skip the line if you purchase online ahead of time.

THE WEATHER IS PERFECT

Paris has moderate weather but it can get warm in the popular months of July and August. It’s great traveling in the summer because of the warm weather and sunshine, but too much can cause problems and make travel difficult with children.

The month of June provides a nice balance of warm weather without it being too hot to the point of being overbearing.

In June, Paris experiences mild temperatures, with daytime highs averaging around  73-77°F (23-25°C). The skies are often clear, allowing visitors to enjoy the sun.

The nice weather is great for strolling around the city and enjoying its iconic landmarks or one of the many picturesque green spaces.

This is a nice contrast to July and August when the temperature can often be in the 80s for much of the day. Paris is a city that should be experienced outdoors and with young children, that makes it a challenge when the weather is extremely warm to the point of being uncomfortable.

When our family visited Paris in June, the weather was perfect. It was sunny nearly every day but it wasn’t too hot so we were able to enjoy the city and spend a lot of time outdoors.
