Where to See Cherry Blossoms in Cleveland

The blooming of cherry blossoms is a beautiful sign that spring has finally arrived. The beautiful blooms are most famously viewed in Japan and Washington DC. Fortunately if you are in or near Cleveland, Ohio you don’t have to travel that far to enjoy the beautiful sight of cherry blossoms.

Keep in mind that there are also plenty of other attractions and activities that you may want to check out during your visit to Ohio. In this case, check out what Cullen Fischel has to share regarding this wonderful state. There are many different ideas that you may want to add to your itinerary.

There are several great locations to view them in the Cleveland area, but one of the best is near the Cleveland Museum of Art at Wade Lagoon.

This is a great spot to visit any time of year, but especially in the spring when these trees are in full bloom.

The entire area is enjoyable with several benches located around the lagoon so that you can relax and take in the view. There is also a nice path that circles the water that you can walk.

The trees are just off the path, some hanging over the path so you can get an up close view of them and take some wonderful pics.

You can also take a walk along the borders of the area on the streets looking in to the park area for a different perspective.

On my last visit, I didn’t notice the ducks or geese, but in the event that they return, absolutely do not feed them. They can get quite aggressive.

Not only are there trees around the pond, but as you make your way up the paths toward the Cleveland Museum of Art, there are several other trees with beautiful blooms. My favorite is the beautiful magnolia tree on the path leading to the right facing the museum.

Once you get close to the museum on either side are walkways that are lined with flowers on one side. This is such a wonderful space to walk, observe the blooms and get some amazing photographs.

HOW TO GET THERE/PARKING

Wade Lagoon is located in the University Circle area of the east side of Cleveland. The area can be quite busy and congested with traffic with roads that bend and twist and intersections that can seem to be a bit confusing. If you take your time and observe traffic patterns you should be fine. Of course, this is an area where it’s best to load the info into the GPS and follow the instructions.

There is free parking along the west side of the lagoon on Martin Luther King Boulevard, but that parking is limited. There is further parking on the east side of the lagoon on East Boulevard and some of the connecting streets, but it’s metered parking. This is still a good option because the cost is minimal.
