GET TO KNOW THE AIRLINE REGULATIONS

Before you pack your vitamins, make sure to carefully go over the regulations for the airlines that you plan to use. Different countries can have different rules regarding the transport of vitamins depending on the ingredients or they may be labeled as prescription medication. Check the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) or the airlines for specific regulations at security checkpoints.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT CONTAINER

Choosing the right container is vital to keeping your vitamins secure during your flight. Go for something that is durable, airtight and that won’t easily break or spill. You can use travel sized pill organizers which are quite handy.

This is the one that we use when we travel. We first used it for flights but we liked it so much for keeping organized that now, we even use it for road trips!

You can also use small resealable plastic bags. Pick one that you’re confident will keep them completely secure.

SEPARATE THE DIFFERENTY TYPES OF VITAMINS

Vitamins

If you have several different types of vitamins or supplements, it may be best to separate them to prevent them from interacting or affecting the other’s effectiveness.

For instance you might want to keep fish oil capsules in a different spot than your multivitamins. If you’re using a small pill organizer, it won’t take up too much space to bring two or three to accommodate the different types.

MAKE USE OF YOUR CARRY ON

Carry on luggage

While it may be tempting to save space in your carry-on by stowing your vitamins in your checked luggage, it’s advisable to keep them in your carry-on instead. This ensures that you’ll have them readily available throughout your journey and reduces the risk of loss in case your checked bag goes missing.

Additionally, keeping your vitamins in your carry-on protects them from potential exposure to extreme temperatures and rough handling that checked bags may endure.

PROTECT AGAINST MOISTURE AND SUNLIGHT

Vitamins can degrade when exposed to moisture and sunlight, highlighting the importance of keeping them safe during travel. This serves as another compelling reason to store them in your carry-on luggage.

Upon reaching your destination, ensure you have a secure location to store them, even if it simply involves keeping them within their original container.

BRING A COPY OF YOUR PRESCRIPTION

Ensure you carry documentation if your doctor has prescribed your vitamins or supplements. This paperwork may be required at security checkpoints or customs inspections, providing essential information as needed.

Having this documentation on hand can expedite the process and help ensure a smooth travel experience.

PACK EXTRAS

In case your bags are lost or there are delays it’s good to have extra doses on hand. Keep them in a separate area that you will have access to such as carry on bag or personal item. This will help ensure that you don’t run out if you encounter the unexpected.

STAY CONSISTENT

Remember to stick to your schedule and stay consistent. We’ve found that setting reminders on our phone helps a lot especially when traveling. This will ensure that we take our vitamins and medication at the same time that we would when we’re at home. Doing this will help maintain your health while on the go.
